World of Warcraft Jewelcrafting Guide
World of Warcraft players, with the release of the Burning Crusade expansion now have the World of Warcraft Jewelcrafting to create necklaces, rings, crowns and many other items that were previously only acquired from loot drops and quest rewards.
Almost the same way that it was done in Diablo II you can use a item socketing to make armor. Being a Jewelcrafting professional you can carve gems to fit in socketed items. Based on the type of gem you use the addition of jewels creates enhancements to armor. Some dangerous monsters drop gems that can be used this way but Jewelcrafters are the primary source of usable gems.
A gem can be socketed by any character, this is the only change you can make. Sockets can not be changed, added or removed. Once a jewelcrafter has given you a jewel, you can socket an item by shift-right-clicking the item. A window will pop open drop the jewel in the the socket you wish to fill. Once you have placed the jewel click the socket gems button to create the new item. An old jewel will be completely destroyed when replaced with a new jewel.
To acquire raw materials jewelcrafting should be paired with mining. Rings and other jewelry can be made by jewelcrafters with metal ores to be sold. Copper rings are the first things that a jewelcrafter will make but other items quickly become available. For 8 silver you can get a jewelcrafting kit. Making a item that is easily made from the resources available many times will increase your skill level faster.
Once you reach level 20 you can learn Prospecting from the jewelcrafting trainer. This allows you to extract gems from ores you have mined. It will increase your chance of finding gems for jewelery.
Reaching a score of 300 as fast a possible should be your goal. The materials that are available to you and the space that you have in your inventory will determine the path you take.
